About the JOB

Exile is looking for an Associate Producer to join their podcasting team. Are you looking to belong to a team that is collaborative and independent? The Associate Producer supports other team members; a willingness to work across projects is key. The ideal candidate will have a can-do attitude and a focus on problem solving.

Strong candidates will have experience in all levels of the production process. This includes managing the tape for a project, directing tapings between hosts and guests, and building episodes in multiple tracks. Must be eager to identify and book key guests that will define and shape an episode, and include building the prep.

This role reports to the US Head of Audio and Sr. Producer. This job requires technical precision and editorial judgment. Key function will be to select tape, craft scenes, and build full episode assemblies from hours of multiple interviews.

Candidates will appreciate the nuances of making audio stories that are driven by plot versus ideas, and ideally will have had experience in crafting both host-guest conversations, as well as narrated stories.

It’s critical that strong candidates for this position work autonomously, often on tight deadlines.

Main focus of your WORK

  • Support producers and editors on the show by organizing tape, cutting selects of tape, cutting narration, and laying in tracks
  • Locate, organize, and license archival tape as needed
  • Collaborate with Editors/Producers to develop the arc of episodes
  • Assist in development of content for shows
  • Research to write scripts, assist in interviews, create line copy, and develop story content
  • Identify guests, conduct pre-interviews, and participate in interviews
  • Arrange all recording logistics for host and guest interviews
  • Execute notes from the Editor on new drafts of episodes for assigned pieces as needed
  • Create promotional materials and trailers from episode materials
  • Assist other team members as needed to meet deadlines

Experience and background we need from YOU

  • At least four years’ work experience
  • At least 2 years’ experience in digital production, podcasting, or broadcasting
  • Advanced fluency and technical skill in audio production and in ProTools
  • Expertise cutting clean two-way conversations on tight deadlines
  • Ability to quickly and independently find archival tape and build immersive scenes
  • Ability to quickly identify problems in a script or draft, and proactively come up with solutions
  • Good communication skills in English. (Spanish a plus)
  • Good writing, rephrasing, and subbing skills in English. (Spanish a plus)
  • Proficient at scripting for the ear and working with co-hosts, reporters, and guests.

This is a New York-based position, with a custom hybrid work schedule. Our office is located in Williamsburg.

This position has an estimated annual salary range of $43,000 to $53,000 depending on
many factors, including but not limited to experience, demonstrated skill set, and role-
dependent factors.
